These birdies are a scream!

My son, John Tyson, has a homemade little birdie costume for Halloween. I will be dressing up in brown and green and will wrap vines around my torso and I've made a nest headband to top it all of so that I can be the tree that the little birdie perches in. It is so fun to dress up and get creative with costumes.

I found this print by falldowntree on etsy today and couldn't resist sharing it. I thing it is so cute and funny.

I went to Cheap Joe's Art Stuff store last week. I was looking for frames to send to my friend, Beth, who had ordered a couple of prints off of my etsy site. I didn't find the kind of frames I was looking for, but I did find some very small canvases. I bought a few and have spent a little bit of time playing around with them and my paints. I hope to use some time in the next few evenings to paint a few small pieces.

I've talked to Lynn at the tailgate about having a craft vendors' day. She says we might be able to do so in November or December. It would be fun to have some fellow crafters there.

I don't have a lot of time to make new things to sell at the tailgate. I just like to people watch and spend time with newly made friends. But, maybe if there's a craft day, people will stop and look at my stuff too. We'll see.

Weekend at Camp Grier

My favorite time of day is at dusk. The sunlight leans down on the trees making them orange instead of green. The night begins to creep in on the grass leaving shadows of blue and grey. The sky, preparing for transition, clears the way for the night stars.

This weekend, we went to Old Fort and stayed at Camp Grier. My usual practice is to grab my camera and snap every shot possible: leaves, trees, water, turtle, bridge, canoes, cabin, rocking chair, rocks, fire tower, night sky, campfire....

But this weekend, instead of capturing the beauty on film, I chose to live in the beauty while it was taking place and nothing else.

No photos to show from our trip, just a memory and reminder once more of God's creation and the beauty there within.

Fall leaves

The fall weather is perfect today. All I want to do is plant pansies, rake leaves, and sit in the hammock until the sun goes down. I love fall!

Why do I post what I post?

The things I post on the little tree trimmings blog are things that catch my attention. They are either beautiful, cute, strange, or unique or all of the above. I will always post the creator's name and where I found it. If nothing is posted about a creator, then I'm the one who made it.

I enjoy catching glimpses of beauty and creativity in the world around me. I hope you'll enjoy seeing what I see and appreciate it.

Things you may find here; photos, paintings, prints, collage, art, poetry, fashion, colors, plants, trees, lots of trees, people, and more.

Pickin and Grinnin

We recently went to the mountains with the Jarrell family. We stayed in a nice cabin on the new river and went tubing, kayaked, ate, rested, and went to a blue grass festival in Landis, NC. Here's a picture of one of the bands and some dancers.

side note: I love WNCW!

What sustains you?

Things that sustain me (written for The Well, the Hyaets newsletter, and reprinted here)

Food, beauty, creation, love, laughter, water

To the Lord I cry aloud, and he answers me from hisholy hill. Selah. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side. Psalm 3:4-6

Folk music, art, good novels, work, shelter

Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. Psalm 54:4

Air, trees, friends, new experiences, plants

The Son is the radiance of god's glory and exact representation of his being, sustaining all thigns by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty of heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. Hebrews 1:3&4

Making things, cheese, hugs, sleep, conversation

Each of us is now a part of his resurrection body, refreshed and sustained at one fountain- his spirit- where we all come to drink. The old labels we once used to identify ourselves- lavels like Jew or Greek, slave or free- are no longer useful. We need something larger, more comprehensive. 1 Corinthians 12:12
